Course Lead and Expert Instructor
Dr. Volker Krieger is Course Lead and Expert Instructor for Open BIM, Information Management and Common Data Environment workflows. He combines a strong academic background in physics and chemistry with extensive international experience in applied science, laboratory planning, business development and digital information management.
Volker holds a Ph.D. from the University of Freiburg and completed postdoctoral work at UFRGS in Brazil. He was also part of the foundation faculty for Applied Science at the University of Freiburg.
In his professional career, he worked in international business development for Sulzer Infra in Winterthur, Switzerland, served as Managing Director of Burdinola Germany, CEE and MENA, and headed the Lab Design Department of TMM Group.

Teaching Approach
Volker enables participants to understand, evaluate and implement standards-based digital information management methods in a practical way. His courses and learning materials are available in English and German as open-source resources.

Content
This workshop is a compressed 2-day fundamentals crash course to get to know IFC and the native IFC editor BonsaiBIM better. It covers the most important concepts of IFC. The second day will be used to introduce the IFC native authoring tool BonsaiBIM. BonsaiBIM is a free and open source software (FOSS) and will therefore not cause any additional cost.
It is important to understand how IFC works and interacts with real project data and information models. The learning curve will be enhanced by deep and active exercise learning. A persistent Common Data Environment (CDE) will be provided and will make additional information available to the participants.
Breaks will be planned according to the suitability of the participants.
The number of participants will be restricted to 10 people to guarantee optimal learning and support efficiency!
CAUTION - Participants will need:
* An HDMI Type A port
on their computer, or an adapter from their individual port to an Type A
* To use a 3-button mouse with scroll wheel!
